LAHORE : At least forty four people were killed and more than 100 others injured in twin suicide blasts near RA Bazaar bus terminal here on Friday, Aaj News reported.

Two suicide bombers reached their targets on foot and blew themselves up near buses 15-20 seconds apart.

Rescuers and volunteers started operation at the site immediately after the blasts and shifted the injured and the dead to Fauji Foundation Hospital, CMH, Jinnah Hospital, General Hospital and Services Hospital.

Six army men were also among the dead.

The army has cordoned off the tree-lined street where there were shops and a mosque, preventing access to journalists as ambulances raced through the city ferry the dead and wounded to hospitals.
